Before using the recording feature, please make sure that you’ve allowed the new Glossika app to access your microphone in your phone’s settings. Once microphone access is enabled, you should be able to use the recording feature.

In Shadowing mode, the sentence is played only in your target language.
For Shadowing, after listening to the target sentence, try to mirror the speaker’s speed, rhythm, and intonation. Rather than focusing too much on pronouncing every individual sound perfectly, the goal is to develop a more natural feel for the language, including its rhythm, intonation, and overall flow.
The sentence will first play once using the native speaker’s audio in your target language. You’ll then see the recording screen, where you can either start recording right away or listen to the sentence one more time by tapping Native.
Your translation language (base language) is not included as audio in the Shadowing task. The translation is provided as text only.
The purpose of Shadowing is to listen to a native speaker and then record yourself speaking the target language. The system analyses your recording to see how closely your intonation and speaking speed match those of the native speaker.
We’re also planning to introduce a separate feature in the future that will focus more specifically on pronunciation accuracy.
Shadowing is a speaking practice where you listen to a native speaker and speak along with them, just a little behind.
Instead of waiting for the sentence to finish and then repeating it, you follow the speaker in real time and try to match their pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation.
Think of it like being the speaker’s “shadow”. You listen and speak at almost the same time.
