The new Glossika is designed around a simple idea: your learning system should adapt to the way you actually learn, rather than requiring you to manage the system yourself.

The amount of time and energy you have available can change from day to day. Our spaced-repetition system is designed to work with that variability while keeping your learning effective and sustainable.

I. Learning at a sustainable pace matters more than hitting a number

Obviously, you may learn faster if you can make more time for studying. But being able to maintain a pace over time is more important than reaching a particular number of reps every day.

Whether your average pace is fast or slow, the system works behind the scenes to keep your spaced-repetition workload in line with it.

The goal isn't to make you chase a specific number. It's to help you keep making progress at a pace you can sustain.

II. Does my goal need to be the same every day?

No.

It's helpful to maintain a reasonably consistent pace from week to week, but we know that your available time and energy can change from day to day.

That's why the new system is designed to be flexible.

You can choose a goal that makes sense for you today without worrying that a different goal tomorrow will break your learning schedule.

The system adjusts in the background to accommodate that variability.

III. Why does the system manage New and Review for me?

Spaced repetition works by bringing items back at different intervals so that you strengthen your ability to recall them over time.

As you strengthen an item's recall, it can take longer before that item needs to be reviewed again.

This creates room for other items to enter your learning cycle.
